Growing Up

I was born as the oldest daughter with two, eventually three younger brothers, and I grew up a lot of boy things to do. Like throwing mud at each other, corn dodging on your grandparents golf cart, and extreme competitiveness. No one, I mean no one, was ever going to tell me I couldn't do anything. I would make sure I proved them wrong. One thing my brothers bonded over was our love for video games. Video games would be one of our favorite things to play together, even as we got older. I can remember playing the PlayStation with my brothers in our living room and a huge bright light flashing outside the window, followed by thunder. All three of us (at the time) turned off the PlayStation and booked it full speed to our mom's room.

It was not only a sibling thing, my mom and dad were able to provide for me to have my own gaming systems. I had the GameCube, Nintendo Gameboy, Xbox, and Xbox 360 throughout my childhood. At the time the GameCube was my favorite, as I loved playing Animal Crossing and the Sims 2: Strangeville. I would still have the GameCube today, had my brother not broken it when I just had my sim's baby born. I still kept up with my videogames even through my adult years.

Passion

What started out as a hobby, has really turned into a passion of mine in recent years. I never realized there was so much that you could do with videogames! Part of me wonders that had I known that I could have been a videogame writer instead of my current career, would I have tried. I know I wouldn't be hitting the pros in games like Fortnite or Call of Duty, but there are many things I can easily do now. I can create content of silly things my sixteen year old brother puts me through. Like falling to my death in Minecraft. I can review games on Steam and Xbox to help other players find games they like. Recently, I have found my passion for horse games and my love of horses redeemed. I found something that I am actually good at, through videogames.

Where to Now?

I am still learning a lot about the video game content world, but I am willing to learn as much as I can. Where will I go with this? Who knows, honestly. I am happy to say that I've made many friends through video games and making content. I would be nowhere without their patience and teaching me through some of the business side of the content creator hobby. I really hope that I can convey my passion for video games through my writing and continue to be the gamer girl till I'm in my 90s. Maybe streaming could be in my future again, maybe there will be more horse games available to Xbox, and maybe just maybe I can become a writer for a video game.

In any case, younger me would be so proud of sticking with this "phase" of life and sharing it with others through writing. The two things she absolutely loved doing. So, I challenge you to step out and do what you're passionate about, you never know what you might find about yourself.

With love,
