All the links I am sharing, I make no money with, but I want to share the Steam games that I am loving right now in this blog post. Enjoy <3
My Mom Sparked it All
When I was a little girl my mom, put me on the family pony Star. Her passion for horses must have seemed into my veins that day, even though at two years old I do not remember it, my heart does. I was fortunate that my grandparents continued loving horses when they bought their next property. My Aunts and Uncle each had their own horse, that was seven horses total. As a girl who loved riding horses from as far back as I can remember, my mom's horse was my favorite. Without her permission... I would ride Belle bareback and only a led rope as my reins. I would ride her out to the end of the barn field, turn her around and race back. I was fearless and full of freedom. I can even remember getting on the "crazy" horse and feeling it buck below me, without fear that I was ever going to be harmed. My mom seeing this passion in me bought me all things horses: bedding, Barbie Horse Game, and more horses my Barbies could ride on. She started something in me that as an adult I started to feel like I lost growing up.
Freedom of Riding
Even though as I grew up my bedding changed, the toys disappeared, the horses were sold after my nanny passed away, and the Barbie Horse Game wasn't on the Xbox; there was still the freedom of riding that would beat steadily in my heart. We moved into my grandfather's basement after I left for college and when I moved back home, my parents purchased three horses for us to ride instead of my grandfather's witch of a girlfriend's horses. There were days that the stress of living in that environment would be washed away when I rode around the farm for hours and talking to my mom. I would get the adrenaline rush when training my horse to barrel ride and I never wanted to let this feeling go. But all things come to an end, and when we snuck out one night to leave the toxic environment I didn't realize how much I would miss these moments.
The Truth of Adulthood
In truth, after the move we had to sell our horse to different families. My horse went to a kid where he is living his best life competing in barrel races. The owners have even asked if my horse had professional training in the sport because he was such a natural, that made me so happy that our fun work together was paying off for his new little (it was a kid) owner. After losing the horses, because my parents didn't have the grassland to feed them, I thought horse stuff was over for me. I would pay to ride trail rides but it just didn't fix that itch of freedom that I once had. That was until I was introduced to horse gaming from a friend named, Uni.
Horse Games to Horse Gamer
I'm not gonna say the horse game community grabbed me at once and never let go, no, I was very hesitant to try horse games on my computer. What joy could playing those types of games bring me? I liked things like Fortnite, Minecraft, Halo, and Call of Duty. No way was I just a cozy gamer or horse gamer. After the first gaming systems started coming out, I was an FPS player and thought no other game would fit me. Boy... was I wrong.
The first horse game I played on my PC that really brought me into this world was Sound of Horses. The nostalgic sound of the horse walking, the graphics, and storyline really sucked me into this game! It brought me back to the Barbie Horse game I loved so much as a child. Have a I finished this game yet? No, but it really started me on this journey of becoming a horse lover again.
It wasn't the only original contender that started to get my passion back for horses. The next game that really truly got me back into horses, is a game I didn't see myself playing. Now, I love a good mystery and put horses in the mix then you have my attention. This game not only has my character solving a mystery, riding a horse, but I am apparently in a scary story. I don't normally play scary games, but this game is so open world that I don't even feel scared. I can do side quest if the main story gets to scary for me. The game that really started my content creating for horses is Equinox: Homecoming. Uni kept trying to get me to try this game, but I just didn't trust myself for liking it. Boy... was I wrong and she was right. This game is so fun to play.
This game is also the way that I started sharing what games I was playing on Tik Tok.
Horse Gaming Creator?
In all my years growing up and gaming, not once did I think anyone would care or like that I was a gamer. It really wasn't what girls my age did in the 2000s, instead of learning how to do make up, I was playing video games with my brothers. I didn't know that I could take this passion of mine combine it with the passion I have for horses and make content. Content that people like! Even though my growth is small and I'm still learning, growth is growth. I just can't believe people like watching me play horse games as much as I enjoy playing them and sharing them. Now, I'm not sure if I would call myself a strictly Horse Gaming Creator but I can see myself becoming one. Maybe I'll get a horse blanket, horse stuffed animals, and continue to live my childhood dreams through the horse gaming community and content creating. How nice that sounds?
Where does the Horse lead?
Even though I wish I could have a time machine to take me back to those days on the farm. This new love of horse gaming has really opened my eyes that the passion I have for horses, never truly left. It will never truly leave. So, I don't know where these horses will lead me, but I'm excited for this new adventure.
With love,
