Equinox: Homecoming

Scary games are not my thing, I avoid them at ALL cost. Phasmophobia, absolutely terrifies me and my friends have tried to get me to play the game multiple times. After hearing the ghost running behind me in my headset, I will NEVER play that game again. So, if someone told me that I would enjoy playing a horse game that has some spooky parts... I would probably call you a liar. That is what Equinox: Homecoming is, a horse game with a unraveling mystery that throws your character through so much chaos. There is a cult, rabid/strange animals, something happening below the island, and you don't even have to complete any of those things to enjoy the game. You could ride your horse all around the island completing weekly goals, tasks, daily deliveries, and complete riding club challenges.

If you do want to play the storyline, but don't like scary or creepy things. I have a solution that has worked for me. While playing Equinox: Homecoming, to avoid the creepy and scary, I put my favorite spotify playlist on. I have turned down the game music, just to immerse myself into a cozy haven of calm. Taking the scary elements out of the game, I have become more invested in the story. Especially since, spoiler alert, we are left with a cliffhanger. The cutscene literally turns into a black screen. Although, I am thankful for them updating the game for more cosmetics... I need that story line to continue. YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME LIKE THIS!

Chapter 5 recently came out and I am left frustrated. I'm frustrated by the character's choice to not have the training done. After everything she has been through, she still doesn't believe what her mother was teaching her? This doesn't seem likely to me. I've noticed that some people have stopped playing the game as frequently after this last chapter and I think it has to deal with the one way trip to the new map area. It seemed like we were going to get this area and be able to explore it, but that is not the case yet. I have more questions than answers at this point in the storyline, yet I still get online to help my riding club and collect items. This game still has such great potiential and I plan on playing it for a while! There are still mysteries to solve and questions to answer, especially now that I have found new gates to caves that are not accessible yet.

1. Can you customize your character?

   1. Yes, Alex to the other characters does not have a set gender no matter how you customize him or her.

   2. You can customize your horse a little, through the barn sign or stylist when you take care of them.

2. Can I change my horses' name?

   1. Yes, go to the barn sign and you can change their name there.

3. What is helpful when finding stuff around the map?

   1. https://equinoxmap.app/ This is an interactive map, very similar to the one built for Red Dead Redemption 2.

4. Do you have to play the story?

   1. No, but I will say it does get pretty good after the first few parts.

5. Do I have to spend money in game?

   1. You can, but you can also earn the gold coins by completing your weekly tasks.

6. Can I play alone or how do I play with others?

   1. You will load into a lobby with others, but you can go into an empty server. There is now a setting for you click on that says "Play Alone."

7. What is there to do besides the main quest?

   1. There are weekly tasks, up to 32 daily tasks, collecting items for daily delieveries, and side quest. There are multiple races throughout the island and scienic riding routes that take you away from the main island.

8. What would you recommend for a new player to start with?

   1. Start with the first part of the story, you learn why some characters talk to Alex like they do. There will be some people you want Alex to throw hands with... trust me.

9. How can I access this game?

   1. It is currenlty only on Steam and linked in the Equinox: Homecoming title. I do not see a plan for console yet. It is controller copatable though!
